Taylor’s Business School wins accounting quiz

Taylor’s Business School bagged the top prize at the 10th Inter-Varsity Accounting Quiz 2011 on 19 March in Melaka.

Organized by Multimedia University Accounting Club under the advisory of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), the event drew large crowds due to the vast participation of universities all around Malaysia.

The team comprising of Finance student Kok Sioa Huoy and three Commerce students, Ung Wei Jenn, Low Kim Cheong and Lee Liay Wai, won the MIA challenge trophy, RM700 cash, hampers and souvenirs.

Accounting students were quizzed on their understanding of the practical applications and implementation of accounting principles and procedures.

Additionally, it provides them with a better understanding of the role and functions of MIA.

Finance student Kok Siao Huoy mentioned that the quiz was worth participating in as it was an opportunity for her and her teammates to boost their confidence.

She added that the competition helped foster closer ties between her team mates and lecturers in addition to promoting the accounting profession.

According to the team, the usual contestants from Sunway University and UTAR proved to be strong contenders who were highly competitive throughout the competition.
