Do you dare DREaM?

The 3rd DREaM International Students Summer Program has returned, with student applications closing on 1 April 2011.

Organized by the office of International Affairs of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia, the program gives international students a chance to visit Indonesia and be involved in a series of socially and culturally enriching activities.

This year the program is scheduled to take place from 26 June to 6 July 2011 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
DREaM began in 2009 as an acronym for Disaster Research, Empowering Community and Microeconomics. It has since extended into other areas revolving around the creation of mutual understanding among youths.

According to Dini Nur Latifah, Secretary and Participant Coordinator for the program, 100 participants from several countries around the world will join this 11-day program.
“Some of the foreign embassies are willing to send delegations under their scholarship to join DREaM. The Indonesian embassies in Algeria, Ukraine, and Antananarivo have confirmed their involvement. Meanwhile, the Austrian Embassy will also send delegations from Austria as they did last year,” she added.

This year, the program will highlight ‘Social Entrepreneurship’, focusing on identifying and solving social issues that gradually bring about social changes.

Participants will get a chance to do community services, join lectures and talks on the broad topic of ‘Social Entrepreneurship’, attend social events and also enjoy internship opportunities that might come their way.

Those interested are welcomed to visit the DREaM 2011 website, http://oia.ugm.ac.id/dream/, and acquire the necessary information before registering for the program.
