The Taylor’s University student council elections are here again. This year, the School of Hospitality Management and School of Architecture, Building and Design (SABD) will be holding online elections with five and three candidates respectively. The other schools did not meet the required number of applications to hold online elections. Applicants from these schools therefore were automatically elected into the council.

The online elections will be held from April 18 to April 22.

School of Architecture, Building & Design

Michelle Tiong Kui Ching
Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Hons)

My aim in being part of the team is to solely serve my fellow students and friends. I wish to stress that many of the students’ needs are not met; their opinions are ignored and their complaints are being pushed aside. My objective is to bring the students’ needs to the attention of the university administrators and see to it that every one of their needs are met, whether through direct implementation or policy adjustments.

In reality, we all have problems but where do we go when problems come knocking? Where can we channel our creativity and ideas for improvement?

This led me here today. Being part of the Student Council means a lot to me. It takes a lot of courage on my side and trust on the students’ side.

I want to be the channel where students can tune into. I am willing to listen and be their voice. I want to make sure that this year will be an exciting one! So, vote for creativity. Vote for me.

Muhammad Azmil Bin Zakri
Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Architecture)

Based on my past experiences and current abilities, I believe I can effectively help represent the students in the School of Architecture, Building and Design (SABD). The only promise I will make is that I will work hard to let the SABD students’ voices be heard in the Student Council, and hopefully we can all contribute to making changes that will be beneficial to both the university and ourselves.

School of Hospitality Management

Lim Ximfung, Jevon
Bachelor of International Hospitality Management

I want to be part of the Student Council so that I can play a part in bringing changes to the students’ comfort, conveniences and experiences while they are pursuing an education. Fellow students, you are the University’s most valuable resource and I acknowledge that. You will not be neglected or left alone and I will strive to fulfill all your needs. Vote for me as the future of the students is in your hands.

Christina Lai Pei Ling
Bachelor of International Hospitality Management

I believe that the university and students both have the rights to have expectations of each other. In order to have all these expectations fulfilled efficiently, there ought to be a proper channel and I believe that I can do this well, being a good intermediary. With proper communication, the students can get the most out of their university life and also take the university to greater heights. It is all about being a TEAM – Together, Everyone Achieves More.
I will do my best for all of us, fighting for our rights and making sure we are heard, therefore making our university years the best of our lives. Vote for me and I will try my very best to help and not disappoint you!

Lau Kai Xian
Bachelor of International Hospitality Management

By joining the Taylor’s student council I hope to prioritize the welfare of students and also work together with the university to highlight plights of the Taylor’s community.

I will carry your plea with a touch of humor while ensuring that at the end of the day you get what you need. Although being a first timer in the council, past experience and designation has taught me the importance of teamwork and responsibility.

Brendon Khoo Han Jin
Diploma In Hospitality Management

I’m tired of hearing students complain and get frustrated about their experiences, yet watch them to do nothing because they choose to believe that they’re powerless as students. I want to help them all remember that it’s not the buildings, not the facilities, not even the classrooms that define a university – but it’s the students that define a university. Also, I want to be the solution to our problems, the voice that needs to be heard, and be the change you want to see in the university, then the world.
