WATCH YOUR BACK! ... Taylor’s Dodgeball team in full concentration during the MAPCU dodgeball tournament held at Lakeside.
Taylor’s Lakeside Storm claimed the Malaysian Association of Private Colleges and Universities (MAPCU) Dodgeball 2011 title after beating INTI College Subang Jaya 4- 1 in the final earlier this month.
“I’m very proud of my players who have worked hard for this achievement. It is our first MAPCU Dodgeball title since the club was established in early 2010,” said team Captain Adam Riff.
The Storms topped their group in the tournament held at Lakeside Campus and breezed their way to the semi-final after beating Help University 4-1 in the second round.
Taylor’s faced tough competition in the semis going against tournament favorite USCI University, whose team has had an unbeaten run in the past three tournaments. A tight game saw both sides leveled at 2-2 at the end of normal time. The Storms then blasted their way to the final, firing deep in sudden death, making it 3-2 in their favor.
“We have met them in three finals for the past three tournaments and came out second best,” said Captain Riff.
“Although winning against them in a tough MAPCU semi-final may have been a combination of luck and determination, my players have done well to earn the satisfaction of the overall victory,” he added.
In the other semi-final match, INTI College Subang Jaya beat Masterskill University to reach the final. Later on, USCI thrashed Masterskill 6-0 to claim third place.
