By the rakyat, for the rakyat

A creative game and animated session introduced the Federal Constitution in simple terms, helping students to better understand the highest law of the land.

Held at Lakeside on May 11, members of the Bar Council Constitutional Law Committee YK Leong, Maha Balakrishnan and Syahredzan Johan conducted the talk as part of the MyConstitution Campaign (MCC).

“The constitution is not merely just a book,” Maha said, highlighting the point that they are trying to teach all Malaysians.

Launched in March 2009, this is a first-of-its-kind national campaign that aims to educate and empower the rakyat.

It also intends to create greater awareness of the Federal Constitution through forums and workshops conducted across the country.

Meanwhile, Syah mentioned that the MCC is a campaign conducted by the rakyat and for the rakyat and despite the differences, we are all one.

“MCC is a committee under the Bar Council that is open to anyone, not just lawyers. Students are invited to join as well. So far, we have approximately 200 members,” he added.
Syah also explained that it is important for the Malaysian public to know the Federal Constitution so that they are aware of their rights.

Prior to the talk, there was a screening of the public service advertisements also known as the Rakyat Service Advertisements, which encapsulated nine topics on the constitution.
