Mama I love you, Mama I care...

Taylorians pay tribute to their mothers

There’s nothing stronger than a bond between a mother and a child

She smiles down at you while you sleep, her eyes shining with tears as she watches your tiny chest heave up and down. She holds your hands while you learn to stand and soothes you when you fall.

She listens patiently while you talk excitedly of all the new people you meet and the new things you experience. She strokes your head when your hopes are dashed or when your dreams are left broken.

She speaks soft words of encouragement and pushes you gently towards your triumphs. She makes countless sacrifices to ensure that you live in the future you aspire for.

She is the one person who knows the colors of all your emotions and she most certainly knows you the best. She is your mother.

In view of Mother’s Day not too long ago, these are a collection of tributes from Taylorians sharing their sentiments towards their mothers.

Tan Sue Ann
Student, School of Business

“She is a place of comfort; she makes me feel safe and secure. She is more of a guardian to me. Life will be tough as we grow but I will always have my mum to guide me.”

Nisa
Student, School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts

“I can’t live without my mum. I am grateful for all those sacrifices she has made for me. I can never repay whatever she has done for me all my life.”

Nurul Azmi
Student, School of Architecture, Building & Design

“My mum means everything to me. She sacrificed so much, spent lots of money for my education, which doesn’t come cheap. I feel very thankful for having my mum.”

Yen San
Student, School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts

“My mum is very important to me. She has done a lot for me ever since I was a child right up till now. I am very thankful for whatever she has done for me.”

Alex Lee
Student, School of Architecture, Building and Design

“My mum is my world. She does a lot of things for me. She is a super mum. Living without her has been tough. In the first week I lived alone, it was really difficult. I have come to appreciate the hard work she has done for me such as cooking and doing laundry.”

Ms. Usha Devi Rajaratnam
Associate Dean, School of Communication

“To me my mother means independence as she has always been a very independent woman, she taught me to drive and has always stressed the importance of being independent. She has also shown me the importance of accepting people for who they are and always to forgive and forget anyone who has upset and caused you unhappiness.”

Dr. Markus A. Petsche
Senior Lecturer, Taylor’s Law School

“She is probably the most important person in my life. Her love, care and support provide me with the energy and strength to face life’s various challenges.”

Elaine Neo
Student, School of Communication

“Mothers will be there through thick and thin, through rain and shine, everyday of the year. Do you think being nice for one extra day will be enough? No, of course not! We should be nice every single day, not just on Mother’s day. Everyday should be Mother’s day. I love my mum.”

She might annoy you, criticise you and scold you. But at the end of the day, what would you do without her?
