Library looking to improve services

As part of ongoing efforts to improve its services, Taylor’s University Library is inviting students to participate in an online survey assessing its current facilities.

The soon to begin one-month-long survey would allow students to evaluate the facilities - services, furniture, layout and environment - within the library.

Deputy Library Manager Susan Zachariah said students can access the survey through the student portal.

“It would only take 10 minutes to do the survey,” she added.

The results of this survey will be analysed and areas that need improvement would be identified.

When asked how soon the changes will be implemented, Zachariah said that it would depend on the weight of the change.

With over 3900 students visiting the library every day, it is important that the library services meet their needs.

Taylor’s student Matthew Lim said that although the library had a vast array of books, the number of copies for particular course books was sometimes not sufficient to cater for larger batches of students.

Meanwhile, an American Degree Program student who preferred to remain anonymous said the library should open earlier.

“They should open around 7. They should also control the level of noise in the library,” he added.

These are some of the concerns that the library staff hope would be pointed out in the survey.
