A student signing a petition organised by TUSC
Taylor’s management responded to Taylor’s University Student Council’s (TUSC) petition for more parking spaces and access to the pedestrian gate by conducting a meeting with them on March 22.
TUSC originally planned to collect signatures from students for a whole week from March 21-25 for the petition, but after only two days, Taylor’s management halted their mission and called for a meeting to discuss the issues at hand.
“Our initial target was to get 1000 signatures but since we were stopped after two days, we could not achieve that,” TUSC Director of Student Welfare Alex Lee said.
Student Council later posted details of their meeting with the management on their Facebook page.
Among the points discussed in the meeting:
- A new parking area for students where buses will be provided to shuttle students from the parking area to the campus (tentative).
- Staff parking will be monitored. Staff who do not utilise their parking spots will have their stickers revoked.
- Students staying at the Lakeside hostel are not allowed to exit through the pedestrian gate as residents in PJS7 have complained about students making too much noise “at wee hours” and performing “inappropriate” acts.
Taylor’s facilities management and student central have not responded at the time of press when asked for a comment regarding the meeting.
