Students and staff of Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus can now enjoy a mini-theatre for screenings of movies and documentaries.
Located on Level 3 of the library, the soundproof theatre comes complete with a DVD player, projector and screen, and can seat about 18 people at one time.
Library Deputy Manager Susan Zachariah said that the purpose of opening a theatre in the library was to provide a venue for lecturers to screen academically-relevant movies and documentaries for students.
“The theatre can only be by booked by a lecturer. This is to ensure control over the screenings and also to make sure those movies or documentaries students watch are related to their course material or are academic in nature,” explained Zachariah.
The Library will also screen movies from the library’s movie collection for general viewing depending on the availability of the theatre said Zachariah.
She added that the library would announce the movie to be shown on its portal.
