Unbeaten streak lands Tan foosball trophy

An impressive unbeaten run saw School of Engineering student Louis Tan Meng Kwang edging out his opponents as the Taylor’s Closed Foosball tournament came to an end.

Fifteen students participated in this tournament held on April 2, with each player competing against each other in a round of games. The player who won most of the games was crowned champion.

Taylor’s Business Foundation student Rezal Ashman bagged second place after losing only one game to Tan.

Business student Yap Wei Han came from behind to win the men’s singles title after beating American Degree Program student Chua Zie Chieh in the Taylor’s closed badminton tournament finals held on March 26.

The tournament held at Extreme Sports Centre at Sunway South Quay saw a heated men’s final match as Chua took the first set 21- 19. Yap came back strong to take the second and third set with 22 – 21 and 22-17 respectively.

“The game was not easy. I am quite happy I won. But I feel I still need to improve my game,” said Yap.

Meanwhile, Business student Chong Wei Li won the women’s singles title after beating fellow Taylorian Joyce Lim in straight sets. Although Lim put up an entertaining fight in the first set losing only 18-21, Chong ensured an easy win by taking the second set 20-16.

“I am happy I won, but I expected more players to compete,” said a smiling Chong.

School of Business students Sha Kah Hong and Fuan Kee Wah beat fellow Business student Danny Ling and Jack Tan of School of Architecture, Building and Design to take home the men’s doubles title.
