Project Revive raises RM8,000 for charity

PETALING JAYA: A whooping RM8,000 was raised at a recent fundraising dinner and concert organized by the Student Council of Taylor’s University. Held on 4 Nov, the event, Project Revive generated RM4,500 from the sale of concert tickets priced at RM70 and RM90 while remaining contribution by sponsors amounted to a total of RM8,000.

Half of the proceeds will be used to enhance living conditions of the children in the Petaling-Jaya based orphanage, Precious Home while 20 percent will go towards providing education opportunities and accommodation facilities within the 1Taylor’s Bario Community Project.

The initiative is not only to improve their education process but their way of life, according to Taylor’s University Student Council President Sim Sui Yee.

“The children in Precious Home normally would receive leftover vegetables from the market, or leftover bread from the bakery. And we thought that they deserve the best just like the rest of us,” said Sim.
Precious Children’s Home administrator Evelyn Robert highlighted the extra mile taken by the Project Revive committee.

“The team has visited [the home] about six times now and they brought so much joy to the children. Now they [the children] are so attached to the kor-kor and jie-jie (elder brothers and sisters),” said Robert.

The 170 guests at Revive Concert were served a Baba and Nyonya buffet dinner and entertained by various performers including local songstress Juwita Suwito, magician Amazing Hassan, beatboxers C&A Beat C, newly-formed band Lyon, as well as the children of Precious Home who presented a choir performance.
